The photo above I used for my front cover before i edited it, it's a bust shot of Martin whilst i had the camera set to a slow shutter speed so it created an eerie effect as he moved his head from right to left, now as i targeted my audience at 16-29 the music based around the magazine is similar to that of James Blake who used this effect for his album cover. This photo challenges the dominant ideology of young adults/teenagers being drug abusing, havoc causing, annoying reprobates because it shows a creative and in a sense, a mature, serious aspect to life. I wanted to keep the photo as plain as possible so by having just Martin infront of a blank background keeps it simplistic and makes us think that he's the only thing that matters. Which the audience will appreciate as it should only be about the music instead of everything that popular chart artists are promoting/recieving today e.g film releases, perfume, toys etc.
This photo i used on my double page spread again before it was edited, i decided that a Medium/Close up of Martin portrayed as an artist would make the audience feel closer to the musician and his music. I tried to keep the lighting in the photo as dim and dark as possible while still getting a good image, by doing this it creates a melancholy and eerie outlook, especially as the lyrics in the genre of music are dark and truthful, as well as complex and deep. Which in itself challenges dominant ideology as teenagers are being labelled as stupid and thoughtless, maybe you could argue that teenagers are just putting their minds to other subjects rather than the ones expected of them. Again i wanted to keep it purely focused on Martin so the audiences attention is fully focused on him and the music, nothing else.
